Job Opportunity: Clinic Nurse
Job Purpose:
The purpose of a healthcare clinic nurse is to provide comprehensive, high-quality care to patients. This includes performing thorough assessments, administering treatments, and managing chronic conditions to promote patient health and well-being. The nurse collaborates with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and effective care, while also educating patients on disease management and preventive health practices. Additionally, the nurse plays a critical role in triaging patient needs, responding to emergencies, and maintaining accurate health records to support the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the clinic.
Qualifications, Education, & Experience
- Nursing degree from an accredited nursing program
- Unrestricted Oregon nursing license
- Experience working in a clinical setting
- Acute care preferred
- Certification in fetal monitoring and NST procedures strongly preferred, or willing to obtain within 6 months
- Certification in Diabetes Education (CDCES or equivalent) preferred; must be willing to obtain within 12 months if not certified
Essential Responsibilities: Clinic Nurse
- Patient Assessment and Care: Perform assessments, administer medications, monitor progress, and report changes.
- Clinical Procedures: Draw blood, insert IVs, EKGs, wound care, and assist providers with exams and procedures.
- Care Coordination: Work with providers and specialists, arrange tests, follow-ups, and referrals.
- Patient Education: Teach patients about conditions, treatments, prevention, and lifestyle management.
- Medication Management: Administer medications, check for side effects, and provide safe usage instructions.
- Health Records Management: Maintain accurate EHR documentation and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Diagnostic Testing: Collect lab specimens, perform glucose and urine tests, conduct and document NSTs.
- Chronic Disease Management: Support and educate patients with diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease.
- Infection Control: Follow infection prevention protocols and educate staff/patients.
- Emergency Response: Provide CPR and emergency stabilization; assist with urgent transfers.
- Triage: Assess urgency, prioritize care, and provide immediate interventions.
- Administrative Duties: Manage patient flow, assist with billing/registration, attend meetings, and ensure policy compliance.

- Strong knowledge of clinical procedures, nursing best practices, and medical terminology

- Knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, and patient confidentiality regulations
- Skilled in patient education and communication with diverse populations
- Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of handling sensitive situations professionally
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Windows OS
- Ability to remain composed under stress and work flexible schedules
Working Conditions
Patient Care:
Ability to remain stationary for long periods, move throughout the facility, operate machinery, and communicate clearly.
Healthcare Facility:
- Work inside a healthcare facility with moderate noise and controlled environment
- May require local travel; occasional out-of-area travel possible
- Variable hours depending on operational need
Exposure:
- Potential exposure to communicable diseases and escalated patients
- Close contact with staff and the public in a healthcare setting
- Healthcare facility cold/heat controls
Machines, Tools, & Supplies:
- Computer, phone system, copier, scanner, fax, calculator
- Diagnostic devices: glucose monitor, BP device, thermometer, oximeter
- Standard precautions required for possible exposure to blood/body fluids
- High-volume calls, documentation, and multitasking required
Work Style: Must handle frequent interruptions while remaining focused and productive.
